Not that that is a bad thing by any means, but it’s just interesting. So I guess it’s no surprise that once I saw the track list earlier this week when their facebook page posted the news, and I saw plenty of glaring omissions I still wondered ‘Is WOW Hits even relevant anymore’? Are there any artists that have been present in almost every WOW Hits that really deserve to be there? Apart from Steven Curtis Chapman, Third Day and Newsboys, most of the artists present in the WOW Hits in the 90’s and early 2000’s have come and gone. When you’re on a good thing, there’s no reason to change the formula right? If something has worked in the past, is there a reason to be adventurous and do something different? In the case of the latest incarnation of WOW Hits- WOW Hits 2017, to be released on September 23 rd this year, there’s a little bit of both- a bit of the ‘sameness’ that has been present in previous years gone by, as well as an element of surprise and clever song choices, signifying boldness and a willingness to be more timely and current.
